The mobile network operator plans to deploy 5G services at selected sites in Maputo, Matola; the central area of Nampula; downtown Nacala, Munhava, Maquinino and Chipanga neighbourhoods; Beira; and Tete.
Mozambique now has a 5G network, as Vodacom, the country's major mobile network provider, has launched it in several locations. These include Maputo, Matola, Nampula's downtown, downtown Nacala, the Munhava, Maquinino, and Chipanga neighborhoods, as well as Beira and Tete.
They help fill coverage gaps, improve network reliability, and handle high data traffic. In cities, more than 60% of 5G base stations are small cells, placed on rooftops, lampposts, and building facades. These mini base stations are crucial for delivering consistent 5G speeds in crowded areas like stadiums, shopping malls, and business districts.
