Estonia to expand solar-power production with €62
It will be the biggest photovoltaic (PV) production site in the Baltics with capacity of 244 megawatt peak (MWp) – enough to power
Pori Peittoo Solar PV-plant: €1.1 million to build a solar PV-plant on a specific material handling area. Two onshore wind projects in Estonia, enhancing the country's wind energy infrastructure. Püssi Project: €9.8 million to develop a hybrid renewable energy park integrating wind and solar energy.
Pori Peittoo Solar PV-plant (€1.1M), a solar PV plant on a material handling site. The 2 onshore wind energy projects selected in Estonia include a hybrid wind-solar energy park that has won €9.8 million. Another €8.2 million has been allocated to an onshore wind project.
For this round, Luxembourg has provided the financial resources for these projects for the host countries Finland and Estonia. Under the previous rendition of the RENEWFM auction with 400 MW solar PV capacity on offer, the EU awarded €27.5 million to 7 PV assets in Finland (see EU Announces Support For 7 Finnish Solar Energy Projects).
That makes another record-breaking year for solar on the continent, with a total of 10 GW more capacity added than expected. Regarding solar power per capita, Estonia has emerged as one of the new leaders. The country is ranked 6th among 27 EU members, with 596 Watt per capita in 2022, jumping from 405 in 2021.
