The contract is the latest in a line of solar projects backed by Serbia's Ministry of Mining and Energy this year, which includes plans for a 1 GW solar panel factory and another 500 MW of solar. Figures from the International Renewable Energy Agency state Serbia had deployed a total 137 MW of solar by the end of last year.
Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), a member of the World Bank Group, is also likely to participate in the endeavor. UGT Renewables and Hyundai Engineering launch a 1.2 GW solar project with battery storage in Serbia, marking a milestone in US-Serbia energy cooperation.
