Underwater data centres chart a path to zero-carbon operation
Underwater data centres powered by offshore wind, solar and wave energy, and cooled by seawater systems, offer a route toward zero-carbon artificial intelligence.
The offshore VPP is designed to supply renewable energy to both the Mal-tese shore power system and the OMPP, enhancing the island's energy security and reducing its reliance on imported fossil fuels. The capac-ities of the wind and PV farm were sized based on a minimum load demand of 300 MW observed during Spring 2022 (source: Enemalta plc).
