Energy storage power station under construction in Hamburg Germany
In an opening ceremony in Hamburg yesterday, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) put into operation an electric thermal energy storage system (ETES) that can
With favorable conditions to become a leading hydrogen hub, like strong industries and transport sectors for hydrogen use, combined with a large production and import potential, Hamburg can be a model region with a holistic hydrogen ecosystem.
The Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub is directly connected to solar and wind power from the surrounding area via the transmission grid. In the HGHH, an electrolyser will produce hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) from water (H2O). This process generates 13 MW of usable heat - enough to supply up to 6,000 households.
Hamburg Moorburg has something. Something that other sites don't have. Where coal delivered energy yesterday, in the near future, green hydrogen will be produced from renewable energy sources and therefore energy for mobility, heat, process gas or natural gas replacement.
Peter Tschentscher, Mayor of Hamburg, noted: Hamburg is becoming a leading hydrogen location in Germany. Together with our international energy partners, we are strengthening the Port of Hamburg as an important transshipment point for hydrogen in Europe.
